To prove one's worth Empty

Leppender stumbled into the inn at the Crossroads, holding her gaping stomach and wincing painfully. She dared not return to the den of the Bloodfury clan with such wounds. Her superiors would ask questions, and she wasn't ready to explain how she got them. She was determined that they would not know until the next meeting. With a grunt she flopped down on a hammock, then proceeded to remove several bandages from her pack. She glanced up at her voidwalker as she rummaged in her sack. "That was some journey wasn't it Thantast?"
Thantast looked up at her briefly before returning his gaze to her bleeding stomach, a hungry look in his eyes. Leppender sighed. “Oh come off it. Someday I'll be dead, and you can glory in your freedom then, but not today.” She removed a bandage, and began wrapping it around her wounds. “I can't die until I've brought honor to both my clan and my family.”
She stopped wrapping her injuries as she gazed off into the distance, seeing more than what was before her eyes. “The ceremony where I must prove my right to earn a name from the clan is fast approaching.” With a grimace she reached back into her pack, and fingered four items within it. Some would consider them junk, but she knew once she explained their worth to the clan, they would be seen as trophies that only a member of Bloodfury would be brave enough to acquire.
“I will participate in the ceremony, and I am sure these items will be sufficient, but I do not want to dishonor the spirits of my family by discarding the name of my birth.” She pulled a sword out of her pack, and fingered it lightly. It was a one of a kind machete, only wielded by one creature in all of Azeroth, and a prize in and of itself. “Yet to refuse a name from the clan would dishonor them. They have given me the home I have longed for ever since I was a child. How do I chose?”
Thantast's only response was to blink slowly, as though he could care less about Leppender's qualm. “My last name has been in the family for many generations, it would break my heart to abandon it. My middle name was given to me by my father, it belonged to his grandmother who was a great shaman. She died long before my birth so I never knew her...” Suddenly her eyes lit up, and she smiled. “Thantast that's it! If I should earn a name I will discard my middle name, and become Leppender Esgeron... whatever name I am given!”
She fell back into the hammock with a sharp intake of breath. She clenched her teeth, and shut her eyes as she fought to regain control over the pain that was consuming her. After several minutes she sensed that Thantast had moved closer to her. Slowly she opened her eyes, to see him hovering over her excitedly. She shoved him away with one hand, holding her stomach with the other. “I told you I'm not dying yet Thantast! Go keep watch, alert me if one of my clansmen arrive.”
Thantast seemed disappointed, but he obeyed and hovered over toward the door. With a groan she sat up slightly, and finished wrapping her wound. With her fairly sloppy treatment complete she stuffed the machete as well as the rest of her bandages back into the packs, and placed them under her head to use as pillows. She shut her eyes preparing to sleep. She thought of her clansmen. Brave Ganakh, honorable Kilgora, fierce Brynjar, and wise Titsu'kra. Those four were the most important people in her life. More than anything she wanted to make them proud. Gently she reached up and touched the pack which contained her trophies. “I hope it's enough.” With a final sigh she allowed herself to fall into the blissful peace of sleep.
